Getting Started as a Troll

Trolls begin in the city of Grobb, a dank and primitive place carved into the marshes of southwestern Antonica. From here, your first challenge is finding the way out of the city and reaching the wilds of Innothule Swamp.

To leave Grobb, head south through the city's tunnels until you reach the gate leading outside. Navigation can be tricky - if you're having trouble, consult the map: http://www.eqtitan.com/eqatlas/grobb.html

Innothule Swamp is your first newbie hunting zone. The recommended route is:

  1. Type 'run' in Grobb.
  2. Use 'run zone innothule'.
  3. Once in Innothule, type 'run' again to learn its landmarks.

You can also use 'run innothule' to reach the old gate landmark, walk manually, or use the Void Rift. Running is the recommended normal travel method.

Before zoning into Innothule, be sure to stop and touch the Void Stone (see help void stones).

Once in Innothule Swamp, you'll find low-level creatures like frogs, decaying warriors, and mosquitos. Stick near the Grobb gate at first and fight weak enemies one at a time. Use 'look' to inspect targets before engaging, and use 'target' and 'attack' to start combat (or cast spells).

Loot corpses with 'loot' and sell unwanted items in Grobb for coins to upgrade your gear.

To learn new spells or train skills, use 'cast into the void' to reach the Void - a central hub where all spell vendors and class trainers are available, regardless of your class.

Once you reach level 5 or so, you'll be better equipped to explore more dangerous parts of the swamp or make your way to neighboring zones like The Feerrott. Use 'run' to navigate large or confusing zones and travel between known landmarks. Run follows mapped paths around blocked terrain, but it can still take you past dangerous enemies. Use invisibility spells if you have them.
