Identify

Identify is a divination spell that examines an item you are carrying, including an item stored inside one of your containers.

Syntax:

  cast identify at <item>
  cast 'identify' at <item>

Example:

  cast 'identify' at silver ring

The report includes:

• the item's complete stats, usable slots, effects, and restrictions
• its item ID, general type, and lore text when present
• how many database tradeskill recipes use it as a component
• how many database recipes produce it
• whether it appears on merchant lists, with example merchants
• whether it appears on spawned NPC loot tables, with example NPCs

Identify reports database-backed recipes, merchants, and NPC loot. A special quest script or custom source may not appear in those counts.

For compatibility, you can still hold <item> and then cast Identify without an explicit target.
