Buffs
Command reference: This page documents the in-game buffs command.
BUFFS
Buffs are beneficial effects that enhance your character’s abilities. These effects can increase stats, improve resistances, grant regeneration, and more.
In this game, buffs are *suspended*. This means that most beneficial buffs you cast on yourself, your group or your pets will not fade over time. Once applied, they remain active indefinitely unless they are dispelled by enemies or effects that remove buffs.
Buffs granted by magic items (using the 'useitem' command) are also suspended, but only while the item that granted the buff remains equipped. Unequipping the item will cause the associated buff to fade.
Note: While suspended buffs do not expire, you can still be affected by debuffs or dispel effects that remove them.
THE 'buffs' COMMAND
'buffs' is a smart buff caster. It scans your scribed spells and casts the best beneficial buffs you (or your target) are missing, skipping any the target already has a same-or-better version of. Buffs are queued and cast one at a time. Crowd-control spells such as Lull, Soothe, Calm, and Pacify are deliberately excluded even though the spell data marks them as beneficial duration effects. Buffs that consume spell reagents are also skipped unless you use the 'all' option.
Usage: buffs [target] [options]
buffs Show what you could cast now and what you could scribe.
With no argument, 'buffs' never casts - it just reports.
buffs me Cast your best missing buffs on yourself.
buffs <target> Buff someone/something in the room (a name, or a target
number from your target list).
buffs pet Buff your pet (this also includes pet-only buff lines).
buffs group Prefer the group version of each buff where you have one.
buffs instant Apply buffs with no cast time (still costs mana) - a quick
top-off.
buffs stop Stop a buffing run that is currently in progress.
Categories: by default 'buffs' only casts your CORE buffs - stats, armor class,
HP, haste and movement. Other categories are opt-in so they don't clutter a normal buff-up:
buffs resist Also cast your resist buffs.
buffs extra Also cast situational buffs (invisibility, vision, water
breathing, levitation, forms).
buffs all Cast everything: core + resist + situational + pet,
including buffs that consume reagents.
Options can be combined, e.g. 'buffs group instant' or 'buffs <target> all'. Use the latter form when you also want reagent-consuming buffs cast on a target.
'buffs' also tells you about beneficial buffs your class and level could scribe but haven't learned yet (grouped the same way, so situational/resist lines are summarized rather than listed). Type 'buffs help' for a quick options reminder.
