STATS
Your character's performance in and out of combat is determined by a wide range of stats. These include basic health and mana pools, regeneration rates, offensive and defensive combat modifiers, and core attributes like strength and intelligence.
The source of these stats varies. You will get some core stats and core pools like hp just from being alive, and they will increase along with your level. Some stats like AC may purely come from worn item bonuses, alternate advancement skills and spell bonuses.
This help file explains the meaning of each base stat displayed on your character sheet.

HP - Your current and maximum hit points. Reaching 0 causes death.
Mana - Your mana pool used for casting spells. Casters rely on this heavily.
Endurance - Used for combat abilities and disciplines. Mostly relevant to melee.

AC - Armor Class. Reduces incoming melee damage and chance to be hit.
Combat Mit. - Combat Mitigation. Reduces incoming damage from melee hits.
Evasion - Your chance to avoid incoming attacks entirely (misses, dodges, etc.).
Shielding - Reduces incoming melee damage after mitigation. Caps at 35%.
Spell Shield - Reduces damage taken from direct damage spells. Caps at 35%.
DoT Shielding - Reduces damage taken from damage-over-time spells. Caps at 35%.
DS Mit. - Reduces damage you take from enemy damage shields. Caps at 35%.
Avoidance - Increases your chance to avoid being struck at all. Caps at 100.

Combat HP Reg - Amount of hit points regenerated per tick while in combat.
Combat Mana Reg - Mana regenerated per tick in combat. Useful for casters.
Combat End Reg - Endurance regenerated per tick in combat.

Attack - Your raw melee attack rating. Higher attack increases melee damage.
Worn ATK - Bonus attack gained from gear. This adds to your base attack.
ATK from Spells- Additional attack power from buffs or temporary spells.
Haste - Percent increase in attack speed. Most useful to melee classes.

Heal Amount - Increases the amount healed by your healing spells.
Spell Damage - Adds extra damage to your direct damage spells.
Combat Effects - Chance to trigger effects from weapons (procs). Caps at 100.

Accuracy - Increases chance to hit targets. Useful for all physical damage.
Stun Resist - Reduces your chance to be stunned. Caps at 35%.
Strike Through - Chance for attacks to ignore enemy defenses. Caps at 35%.
Spell Crit Rate - Chance for damaging spells to critically hit.
DoT Crit Modifier - Modifies the damage of critical damage-over-time spells.
Heal Crit Rate - Chance for healing spells to critically heal.
Melee Crit Rate - Chance for melee attacks to land as critical hits.
Archery Crit Rate - Chance for archery attacks to critically hit.
Physical Crit Modifier - Bonus damage percent applied to melee crits.

Strength - Affects melee damage and how much you can carry.
Stamina - Increases max HP and endurance pool.
Intelligence - Increases mana pool and spell success for INT-based casters.
Wisdom - Increases mana pool and spell success for WIS-based casters.
Agility - Affects avoidance and evasion.
Dexterity - Improves weapon proc rate and skill use speed.
Charisma - Affects charm durations, vendor prices, and some spell resist checks.

Magic Resist - Reduces chance of being affected by magic-based spells.
Fire Resist - Reduces chance and damage from fire spells.
Cold Resist - Reduces chance and damage from cold spells.
Disease Resist - Reduces chance and damage from disease spells.
Poison Resist - Reduces chance and damage from poison spells.
