Rare Spawns
Rare Spawns
Rare spawns are special, named creatures that carry treasure beyond what you might normally expect.
How It Works:
- Any named NPC in the world is considered a rare spawn.
- Looking at an NPC will tell you if it is a rare spawn:
example: Kroldir Thunderhoof is a rare spawn.
- Rare spawns still drop their normal loot just as they always would.
- In addition, each rare has a chance to drop bonus treasure from other rare spawns in the game.
- The bonus loot comes from other rares close to its level, not from the entire world.
For example:
- A rare creature in the 30s might drop its normal items and also something that usually comes from another rare in the 30-40 level range.
- A dragon in the 50s might drop its normal dragon loot and also a rare piece of gear that usually comes from another rare in the 50-60 range.
What This Means:
- More variety: You are not locked to one camp. If you are fighting named mobs around your level, you always have a chance at valuable loot.
- Bigger surprises: You never know what rare treasure might show up when you defeat a named NPC.
- Play your way: Explore different zones, hunt the rares that interest you, and you will still have access to powerful loot.
Notes:
- The chance for bonus rare loot is not guaranteed. It is a roll, just like any normal drop.
- Loot pools are separated by level bands, so a level 20 rare will not drop raid loot from a level 60 encounter.
- Some iconic or quest-critical items may still remain tied to their original source.
In short: hunt any named you find, because every rare in the game has the potential to reward you with powerful items normally found elsewhere.
