Welcome to Beyond the Void

This is the home of Beyond the Void, a unique MUD (Multi-User Dungeon). The game is currently under development and available for player testing. We are also open to additional developers.

In Beyond the Void, players explore a reimagined EverQuest universe touched by the arrival of an ancient alien race. These mysterious beings discovered Norrath through a dimensional rift and seeded the land with rift stones—powerful anchors that allow fast travel between the Void and key locations in the world.

The Void serves as a central hub, home to class trainers, guild masters, and trade opportunities for all professions. It's also where your journey expands: players can unlock and advance up to three distinct classes, opening the door to deep character customization and strategic play. Travel between the Void and Norrath is seamless, making exploration and progression easier than ever.

Beyond the Void is completely free to play. Our goal is to bring EverQuest back to its text-based MUD roots, while delivering a modern experience designed for solo players and small groups of friends. While we stay true to the spirit of classic EverQuest, the game will evolve to include new mechanics, genres, and innovations tailored to a rich, immersive text-only environment.

Beyond the Void combines a unique Norrath experience into a text-based world while leveraging modern enhancements. Here are some of the key features:

Custom Mudlet UI

We have developed a custom Mudlet UI for a more rich experience. The map is updated on the fly in the upper right corner. Your status as well as your target and your pets are easily accessible in the lower left.

Quality-of-Life Changes

While Beyond the Void strives to remain faithful to the classic EverQuest experience, we've also added several modern quality-of-life features to improve playability and reduce tedium for today's players:

Character Creation

A basic character creation is in place allowing you to choose your race, class, and deity. This generates your starting items, default factions, and moves you to your starting zone at your origin point. The origin spell is already integrated and can be used to return to your origin point.

Items, NPCs, and rooms (via maps) – well, basically everything, is generated from the ProjectEQ database. There are few custom coded areas on Beyond the Void MUD.

Equipment and Inventory

A functional inventory is in place, and equipment can be 'equipped' into the proper slots. Race/class/deity limitations are respected.

Basic quest functionality is integrated. Most quests featuring talking and item hand-ins should be fully functional.
